We need to put this into context. When I talk about International Schools I am talking the schools that I have either taught at or had the pleasure of observing their fantastic use of educational technologies. Yes there are International Schools out there that are at the other end of the spectrum but I am basing this on my experiences and what I have observed while teaching in overseas. The International Schools were in the process of getting full accredited by two different organisations. They were not accountable anyone except themselves. These schools were not and are still not accredited, which is a reflection on the teaching practices that are present within the school. There was a lack of incorporating digital technologies into teaching, learning and assessment in all of the schools (Donnison, 2009). The concept that just having the computers or a computer lab in the school was enough. Once again it must be emphasised that these were not top tier schools. At a top tier school a colleague taught at e-learning and learning technologies were used everyday by both the teachers and the students. All teachers regardles of the subject they taught had to write a daily blog for their classes. All subjects including Physical Education used technology. In the Middle School students had to wear a heart rate monitor to assess the amount of physical effort they were putting into their lesson. Those results were then used in their reports and constructive feedback throughout the schol year.Is it all about the money? Does paying for an education necessarily mean that you get a quality education? Please click on the links below to see examples of how a top tier school utilises e-learning
